While it is true that the EF 70-200mm f/4L lens will never be able to compete with its bigger f/2.8 brother, at half the weight and half the cost, and boasting the “L” brand name, it’s certainly worth some serious consideration.
Great for outdoor usage, though photos taken in low light and at too slow shutter speeds can turn out a bit disappointing. IS becomes increasingly important as you extend the focal length. If your camera is already extending it by a factor of 1.6, you might want to consider the step up to the IS version.
